CECIL L. GAGNON, MASTER CRAFTSMAN
Raised on wheat ranch north of Walla Walla, Washington Cecil attended a one-room grade school. After high school he served with the U.S. Submarine Forces and then worked for Standard Oil Company. In his thirties he found his trade when his brother offered him work as a carpenter. Soon thereafter, Cecil decided to break out on his own and moved to John Day, Oregon where he started his own company building custom homes and cabinets until his "retirement" twelve years ago.

As a Master Craftsman, he could not abandon his tools for very long. He heard through his son - who does most of our painting - that Jim needed a skilled craftsman. Cecil has now been with the Oxbow Trade Co. for ten years. Generally, Cecil fabricates components in his personal wood shop and then assembles the parts at our main location in Canyon City.

When restoring vehicles, it is not unusual for original parts to be unreconizable due to decay or, in some cases, missing completely. Even without an original, Cecil can lay out the connecting parts and - after measuring, researching and guessing - create an accurate replacement. His portfolio includes both new construction and the complete restoration of sleighs, stage coaches, wagons and many other vehicles. Check our Art Work Pages to see Cecil's other talents!.
